Lunar Eclipse, 8 November 2022, The Hague, The Netherlands

Brief Overview
The government, the opposition and political class as well as ordinary citizens are all going to suffer as a result of this eclipse. Real poverty is about to return to the Netherlands with people being unable to afford to heat their homes or even feed themselves properly. The opposition will be unable to unite sufficiently to oppose the government and its policies properly, but that will not stop the government from falling due to internal divisions and resignations from within the coalition parties arising from the terrible state of the economy, the various scandals (sexual and/or financial) that come to light and the rising anger of the population.

Public health will be bad, the death rate will remain elevated and a return of the Covid-19 pandemic is likely. The health of highly placed individuals, including politicians will also be affected and one or more of them are likely to die. The same applies to the royal family.

The silver lining to all this misery looks to be a resurgence of a sense of community amongst the people and a renewed willingness to help one another through difficult times.

Time and place of the eclipse
Eclipse at 16 deg 0’ of Taurus, a fixed Earth sign.
Eclipses in fixed signs are more lasting in their effects, but can act very suddenly and unexpectedly and violently causing great distress. There will be effects on parliament and the treasury. They may be followed by sickness or an epidemic, increased death rate or the deaths of eminent people.
Eclipses in Earth signs are bad for crops and the business world, and also unfortunate for the government and the monarch. Drought may follow.

Duration
The eclipse lasted from 09:02:15 until 14:56:09 on 8 November 2022 I.e. 5 hours, 53 minutes and 54 seconds, so taking a month for each hour of eclipse takes us to 5 May 2023.

Raphael
Death of some queen and a scarcity of seeds and barrenness of the earth.

Mercury in Scorpio and Mars in Gemini mean that those planets are in mutual reception.

Eclipse in 4th house
Unfortunate for the government and monarch, and for the success and welfare of the nation. The people will suffer there will be ill feeling between the people and the upper classes. Some great or well-known person may die or suffer a downfall. It is bad for crops, mining and house property - a housing crash could well be on the cards. Add to that the Moon afflicted in the 4th house can presage accidents involving mines or buildings, especially if afflicted by Mars, Saturn or Uranus, In this case the Moon is actually afflicted by both Saturn and Uranus. Not so much mining goes on in the Netherlands, but (despite recent reductions due to damage to buildings) the gas field in Groningen is still being exploited.

T-Square
What makes this eclipse chart particularly ominous is the presence of the infamous T-square pattern where two planets in opposition are also mutually square a third planet. In this case, the T-square is formed by the Sun opposite the eclipsed Moon with both squaring Saturn.

Classically in a mundane chart, the Sun stands for the head of the ruling power in the country (in this case prime minister Mark Rutte), the Moon stands for those members of the public who are able to make their voices heard (think, for example, of the guests on Jinek, Op1 etc. and those invited by the newspapers to write op-eds) in this particular case, the Moon can be taken to be the parliamentary opposition since she is in the 4th house.

The ruler of the house on the ascendant stands for the ordinary people in the country - you and me - whose only normal chance to get their voices heard in a democracy is through the ballot box. In this case, the ascendant is in Capricorn and so the people are represented by Saturn.

In other words, the tension indicated by this T-square is exactly between the government the political class/opposition and the citizens of the country. The solution to this tension can traditionally be found by looking at where the missing fourth corner of the square would be, and in this case, that is in the 7th house of foreign relations, with its cusp in Cancer, so ruled by the Moon, but in that part of the 7th house covered by Leo (the Sun’s domain). The suggestion therefore is that the government and the political class need to work together to sort out international relations in order to relieve the suffering of the people and restore prosperity. This strongly suggests that a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine situation needs to be sought.

The Sun
As already said, this refers to Mark Rutte as leader of the country. In this chart he is in a commanding position approaching the midheaven in the 10th house of the government. He is supported by conjunctions with both Mercury and Venus as well as a trine with Neptune. On the negative side, he is afflicted by opposition with the eclipsed Moon, is sesquiquadrate Jupiter, square Saturn and opposite Uranus.

Sun conjunct Mercury
This aspect is good for science and the literary world, and can indicate important speeches being made by the prime minister or other member of the government. Mercury as ruler of the 5th house of the rich and famous as well as the 6th house of the armed forces provide the prime minister with some support.

Sun conjunct Venus
This aspect is beneficial for the government and the nation, although Venus being in the bad shape she is means this will be less pronounced that might otherwise be expected. At least the arts should benefit. As Venus is the ruler of the 4th house of the rural hinterlands and the judiciary, Rutte can expect to receive some support from them.

Sun trine Neptune
This aspect is a sign that the government is popular and receives support from the people. However, note that Neptune is intercepted in the 2nd house of the national finances and that suggests that only a limited number of people who stand to gain financially are the ones supporting the government and her policies. It also indicates that at least some luck will help Rutte.

Sun sesquiquare Jupiter
This is indicative of trade problems and public health deteriorating. More importantly, however, is it tends to expose scandals in high places. Such scandals can have a big impact on the image of the government and cause her to lose popularity. Note that Jupiter is also intercepted in the 2nd house, so such scandals may well be limited to those of a financial nature and in a specific branch of the economy, although since Jupiter rules both the 11th house of parliament and the 12th house of institutions, bribery of parliamentarians and normally respected institutions such as the RIVM (national institute for public health and the environment) and hospitals may well come to light.

Sun square Saturn
This is one of the more difficult aspects suggesting a fall in popularity and the power of the government. Expect problems for the passage of legislation through the upper house (eerste kamer). This may well indicate that the provincial state elections in March will go badly for the government. The economy is likely to suffer - recession or worse - and there will be problems with public health.

Sun opposite Uranus
This aspect leads to the government suddenly facing serious problems, often as a result of their own poor policy decisions. As the 2nd house is ruled by Uranus, these problems are likely to be financial. In recent times, Rutte and his cabinet have more and more been behaving in an autocratic way, introducing new laws and enacting policies which never appeared in any of the coalition’s party manifestos.

The Sun afflicted in the 10th house
This points to poor governance leading to serious national problems and general misery largely as a result of pushing far beyond the government’s mandate. Since the Sun is also the ruler of the 8th house (associated with the national death rate and deaths in general), deaths of one or more senior politicians seems likely.

Afflicted Sun ruling the 8th house
This presages international trade difficulties. Obviously the trade in gas, oil and wheat from Russia are at least a part of this, but most likely also trade with non-EU countries such as the USA and others due to the falling euro compared to the US dollar.

The Moon
Apart from being exalted in Taurus and in the angular 4th house, the Moon is in terrible shape in this chart, afflicted as she is by six planets: conjunction with Uranus, three oppositions (Sun, Mercury and Venus) and a square with Saturn.

Moon opposite Mercury
This points in the direction of scientific frauds coming to light, quite possibly in relation to the Covid pandemic, the measures implemented (“social” distancing, face masks, lockdowns, “vaccines”, suppression of alternative treatments, promotion of dangerous protocols such as intubation and the drug remdesivir). The fact that Mercury is the ruler of the 9th house of academia and the law courts also strongly suggests that they will be involved, too.

Internationally, there are also likely to be problems, perhaps to do with the energy situation and different member states of the EU going their own way.

Moon opposite Venus
This is another bad sign for the economy and financial and trade relations with other countries leading to arguments. Agriculture, too faces problems, no doubt related to the shuttering of farms by the government and tourism will also take a hit.

Moon conjunct Uranus
This is a major indicator of public animosity towards the government due to seriously unpopular policies. This will have the effect of putting the whole of the political class into disarray. There is an upside, though, and that is that any new legislation brought in during the period indicated by this eclipse will not work as intended and will only serve to increase general dissatisfaction, even outright anger with the government. This in turn looks likely to cause the government to fall.

Moon semisquare Jupiter
One of the most benign aspects as this does indicate some relief from the difficulties faced by the population although this is likely to come from government largesse resulting in excessive spending by the government. This is another indication of scandals and, since the Moon is angular, is likely to result in a politician having to step down and find a position outside of politics. Lastly, this is another indication of general general problems.

Moon square Saturn
This is not a good aspect. It predicts real problems for the opposition and the political class and the nation the in general. Parliament is disrupted, the economy suffers while unemployment increases and the stock exchange continues to show red. This is another indication of the possible death of a significant politician. Crises continue to pile up bringing the government into more and more discredit with electorate to the point that the government falls, especially if Saturn is angular, which he is.

Mercury
Is strong by house (angular) and, thanks to mutual reception with Mars, also strong by sign. He is in a loose conjunction with Venus and is trine Neptune. However, he is combust (too close to the Sun) and is afflicted by oppositions with both the Moon and Uranus, is square Saturn and sesquisquare Jupiter.

Mercury in the 10th house
Mercury afflicted in the 10th house is another sign of trouble for the government due to them providing poor or incorrect information. This should surprise no one as this has been going on for a while now. The government will continue to be entirely oblivious to the needs and wants of the general population and runs the risk of harsh criticism being levelled at them and any new legislation, policies or recommendations and even of people ignoring them all together. This is another indication of disturbed trade.

Mercury conjunct Venus
This would be a good omen if it were not for all the bad ones covering the same points in this chart! Possibly this refers to a general softening of attitudes amongst the population with respect to the harsh measures imposed by the government during the Covid crisis as people start to realise that it is not each other they should be angry with, but the source of so many of their problems, namely the government.

Mercury sesquisquare Jupiter
The transportation sector of the economy is likely to suffer, one obvious looming problem is that of a diesel shortage. There may be problems in education also financially, possibly related to schools and universities having to pay substantially more for their energy opening up the possibility of school closures.

Mercury square Saturn
This is another indication of the transportation sector running into trouble. In addition, workers suffer resulting in strikes and protests. It is also another indication of problems with education.

Mercury opposite Uranus
Discussions and debates both within and outside parliament will become very excited with accompanying excitement, strong emotion and interest in political affairs playing a much more significant role for the general public. The current crises get worse, new ones arise and all sorts of difficulties present themselves. Given other aspects in this delineation, (Moon afflicted in the 4th, Mars afflicted in the 6th) protests and riots can be expected due to rising public anger.

Mercury trine Neptune
Something good may yet come out of all the problems predicted by this chart since this aspect is associated with new ideas, artistic endeavours, literature and culture. It can also lead to new political or social movements. With Neptune in the 2nd house the suggestion is that such movements will be of a financial or economic nature favouring democracy.

Mercury ruling 6th house
This is tough for the working class as unemployment is likely to rise and new regulations make some activities (for instance the legislation being brought in to tackle nitrogen and PFAS limiting building). To make matters worse, the problems faced by workers will hardly be mentioned in parliament or the media. Public health, too, deteriorates and, with the opposition of Uranus and square with Saturn, an epidemic becomes likely. The armed forces struggle with recruitment.

Venus
In this chart, Venus is in quite poor condition despite being angular, supported by a conjunction with Mercury and trine Neptune, she is nevertheless combust, in her detriment in Scorpio, in opposition with the eclipsed Moon and Uranus as well as a square with Saturn.

Venus ruling the 4th house
In this poor condition Venus will result in bad weather and difficulties for the farming world. Agricultural produce is likely to be reduced and profits will be down. This is also another indication of the opposition being in disarray and those women currently in power will perform poorly, something that will reflect badly on female politicians in general.

Venus ruling the 9th house
Venus in poor shape ruling this house is a bad sign for foreign affairs and is also indicative of problems for higher education.

Venus in the 10th house
A debilitated Venus in the house of the government is another warning of scandals of a financial and/or a sexual nature among politicians and other highly placed people. Considering that Venus is also the ruler of 9th house, the justice department and law courts may well be implicated here, too.

Venus square Saturn
This, too is a very bad aspect. Industry, the economy, the stock market and the banking sector will face difficulties and losses. This is an indication of families suffering as poverty increases. This is doubly so, since afflicting Saturn represents ordinary citizens, see below.

Venus opposite Uranus
Is another indication of impending trouble for the economy. People are fed up with their politicians and the way society is functioning. Families and communities come under pressure.

Venus trine Neptune
This is a good aspect and is typically associated with peace, contentment, and general goodwill, it brings improved conditions for workers and those in need. Again, Neptune is intercepted and so only a limited section of society is likely to be feel these benefits. Nevertheless, a growing feeling of camaraderie can be expected with something of an us-against-them sentiment taking over, ‘them’ being principally the government. As a result people will be more inclined to help one another, charitable projects flourish and a general sense of unity becomes widespread, at least amongst those less well off.

Mars
Mars is not directly linked by aspect to the eclipse, but with the 10th house of government in Scorpio (and thus ruled by Mars), he should still be taken into consideration. Mars is weak by his placement in the cadent 6th house and retrograde, yet strong by sign thanks to mutual reception with Mercury. He has a useful trine with Saturn, but also two squares with Jupiter and Neptune to weaken him again.

Mars in the 6th house
Mars afflicted in the 6th house is a classic warning of epidemic disease. For sure, the squares with Jupiter and Neptune both point to economic problems leading to unemployment and discontentment amongst worker, yet the trine with Saturn, gives the people real strength to fight the terrible government policies (10th house ruled by Mars) which are responsible for these problems.

Mars ruling the 3rd house
Transportation, communication and the media can expect to suffer from strikes and other protests. One thing to watch is the possible introduction - much in the media these days - of the possible introduction of the digital euro. If this does happen during the period over which this eclipse applies then it will fail to live up to the expectations of the government (and also EC/ECB) due to unforeseen circumstances. Transport accidents are more likely during this period and an increase in violence in schools is also a possibility.

Mars ruling the 10th house
This is really something to pay attention to. The Libra Ingress for the Netherlands showed all the classic signs of imminent war except a negative aspect between Mars and the Moon or the planet ruling the 1st house. As such, despite a great deal of war rhetoric over the last few months due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, not to mention shipping vast amounts of weaponry to the Ukrainians, the Netherlands have at least so far avoided becoming properly embroiled in that war. Fortunately, this looks again to be the case here. Nevertheless, this can signal violent protests and rioting although the affliction is probably insufficient to suggest an an attempt to overthrow the government by force.

Mars trine Saturn
This aspect is beneficial to the government, gives strength to the armed forces and police.

Mars square Neptune
Trouble through democratic movements and popular causes, they are defeated or arouse contention. Secret or mysterious crimes, murders, poisonings, outrages come to light. There may be a good deal of sickness, possibly even an epidemic. It is not possible to say with certainty that a new epidemic will actually be a return of Covid-19, yet the fact that Mars is retrograde (i.e. going back over previously travelled ground) does seem to suggest it.

Jupiter
Jupiter, the great benefic, is not in good shape in this chart, in the succedent 2nd house from which he gains no strength, retrograde and afflicted by no less than six planets, he is far less capable than usual to bestow his great gifts on the nation.

Jupiter in the 2nd house
Fortunate, but trouble arising due to affliction by Sun, Moon, Uranus, Neptune

Jupiter ruling the 12th house
Fortunate for hospitals, asylums, charities and philanthropic movements; increase of legacies or donations; public attention is turned in these directions and they benefit; some public ceremonials or meetings connected with this house will be held; benefit for prisons or workhouses through improved conditions or charitable activity. Jupiter very afflicted, so expect minimal impact here.

Jupiter conjunct Neptune
Indicative of financial problems.

Saturn
With Capricorn on the ascendant, Saturn is the ruler of the 1st house and of the chart as a whole. He is also present in the 1st house giving him strength as well as being supported by a trine with Mars. However, he is also afflicted by six planets including the eclipse meaning overall that he is in very bad shape.

Saturn in and ruling the 1st house
Afflicted Saturn is bad for trade, poverty, lawlessness and crime. He is also afflicting the Sun and so King Willem-Alexander and/or government will suffer unpopularity, loss of power, hostile criticism, illness or even a death. Since Saturn is square Uranus, the trouble is likely to be very serious, the monarch or some very eminent person in the state may die, or the government be defeated. Add this to the previously mentioned indications and seems extremely likely in fact, that the government will fall during the next five months.

Saturn square Uranus
Brings trouble upon the monarch, government and the ruling power in general. National politics are apt to become very disturbed and involved. Great changes are advocated, important reforms attempted or suggested, but they are either successfully resisted or achieved with difficulty after long resistance. Troubles and disasters beset the government, which may lose ground, be defeated or have to resign. Changes in the cabinet may take place; death or resignation of members; disaffection within the parties. A general election may take place, or large reforms be advocated affecting parliament, elections, civic or other councils, the administration of the country or even the monarch, but in any case there will be much opposition, delay and difficulty.

Uranus
Is another planet in terrible shape in this chart. His only strength comes from his placement in the angular 4th house but he is in his fall in Taurus, retrograde, afflicted by conjunction with the eclipsed Moon and has negative aspects with five other planets.

Uranus ruling the 2nd house
Fluctuations and losses in financial matters, stocks, banks, investments and business affairs. Financial matters will almost certainly cause trouble in parliament.

Uranus in the 4th house
This troubles the government and puts many difficulties in their way. The opposition may be stronger than usual but in this case it more likely to work against them through disagreement. There will be trouble among the workers, discontent, strikes, ill feeling between the upper classes and the masses, fall of buildings and explosions. Legislation with land and landowners may be under consideration which refers most likely to the current expropriation of farmland.

Neptune
Neptune in his rulership is intercepted in Pisces and retrograde, but is otherwise in quite good shape, due to trines with the Sun, Mercury and Venus as well as a conjunction Jupiter. The real negative is a square with Mars.

Neptune in the 2nd house
Expect some businesses to flourish - most likely the large corporations - and others to be severely affected by strikes and health issues.
